Develop creative direction for a memorial event to honour a small but important event in Canada’s history. Late 1960s. Nigeria is in civil war. Worldwide efforts to end famine in the war-torn region of Biafra are literally taking flight. Canadian churches respond to the call for assistance. Air relief flights - in the darkness of night to avoid gunfire - deliver essential aid and airlift children to safety. Tragically a flight into darkness ends in the crash of CF-NAJ and the death of four airmen from Canada. Fifty+ years later, a memorial service and a plaque dedication honour the lives of those four men. Hundreds of people gather in downtown Toronto. Stories from family members and people involved in the airlift recall the bravery of those four men. A truly remarkable event to keep their story alive.
